Lidzbark Warmiński – not just history, but people

It’s hard to overstate the importance of this place in the history of Warmia. This is where successive bishops resided, where the region was governed, and where religious, political, and even economic affairs were managed.

The castle was more than a fortress – it was a home, an office, a residence, and a workplace for hundreds of people. Silent servants, burgraves, stewards, cooks, clerks – each had their role. This is the focus of the episode titled “The Silent Majority”. You won’t find their names in history books, but without them, the castle wouldn’t have functioned for even a single day.

It’s also a place where the great minds of their time crossed paths: Copernicus, Krasicki, Kromer, and Dantyszek. Each of them left a mark. Some wrote books, others shaped diplomacy, managed vast estates, or brought exotic plants to the castle gardens.
