The legend under the linden tree

According to tradition, a prisoner from the Kętrzyn castle carved an image of the Virgin Mary in wood after a miraculous vision. Once freed, he placed the figurine among the branches of a linden tree at the edge of the forest. Soon, stories began to spread about healings and signs, and the place became a destination for pilgrimages. It was this very linden tree that gave rise to the sanctuary we know today.

Święta Lipka – a village with an extraordinary name

Święta Lipka is a small village located between Kętrzyn and Reszel, surrounded by the forests and lakes of the Warmia–Masuria borderland. Although only a few dozen people live here permanently, thousands of pilgrims and tourists visit every year.
